Second grade classes at PS 112M did an inquiry study on New York City. They read books and did research online to find out the answers to their questions. They also went on a trip to the Staten Island Ferry, Museum of Natural History and will go to the Transit Museum and other trips in the future.
Ms. Jennie showed students pictures that she took around the city. She likes to take pictures of interesting things and places she sees as she travels around. In Technology class each student created their own PowerPoint presentations about NYC. They inserted the pictures Ms. Jennie took into our slides.
Students also found pictures online from Google images. They created this podcast just for you so that you too will know interesting facts about our exciting city! They had so much fun learning about NYC and hope you enjoy their episode!

Three Year 6 pupils from Lower Fields Primary School in Bradford were part of an after school Podcasting Club run by Mrs. Davy. Lily, Rochelle, and Lucy were given the opportunity to research, write a script, record and edit a podcast about their city. They were proud of all the things Bradford has to offer and decided to call it "Beautiful, Brilliant, Bradford." The music was also chosen to suit the recording. They hope you enjoy the podcast as much as they enjoyed making it.

Third graders at Leon Sheffield Elementary School recently finished an International Baccalaureate study of Communities. As an ending activity some students volunteered to stay after school to learn more about their city and create this episode. They researched the city using the Internet and wrote their own scripts for the podcast. They were helped by a third grade teacher, Mrs. Carol Davis, and a fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Vicki Williams.

Mrs. Marybeth Owens’ first grade students at Holly Heights Elementary School enjoyed creating this podcast with the help of Mrs. Carmelita Graham, our district’s technology trainer. This project-based learning experience included a classroom visit from Mrs. Mimi Peterson, a member of Millville’s historical society, classroom discussions about landmarks in the city and the history of the city, and student visits to some of the city’s landmarks with their parents. Each student chose the segment that they would be interested in talking about in this episode. The students also did research at home with their parents and brought back to school artifacts, pictures, and documents that would help the class prepare to create this podcast. They hope that you enjoy listening as much as the they enjoyed creating the episode!

With the assistance of their homeroom teacher, Mrs. Dee Berry, and their technology coordinator, Mrs. Jodi Bauler, students took their own pictures, researched information, and recorded their episode on GarageBand. Located in the “Heart of America”, Kansas City is a great place to live and work.
