1. Introduction
These terms set out the conditions that RECAP Limited use to consider, review and, accept or decline any RSS/podcast submissions for inclusion in the podcast directory for educators. The terms also detail the processes and steps we will take to amend or remove a RSS podcast feed from the directory.
2. Terms for submission
a) We are always willing to showcase and promote educational podcasts from schools and from other organisations. Subject to meeting the requirements of our rigorous review and quality assurance procedures, we list and categorise audio, enhanced and video podcasts.
b) All the RSS podcast feeds that are accepted and listed in the directory are designated as being suitable for educational use with children, young people and educational professionals.
c) Every submission we receive is acknowledged by email to the contact name and email address included in the submission, together with an estimated time for when a decision is likely to be made.
d) We carefully review every RSS podcast feed and audition the podcasts using the following questions:
- Is the content suitable and likely to interest children and young people? In essence, this is a close examination of the content in terms of its educational nature, contribution to the curriculum and the age range of the likely audience.
- Does the topic of the podcast offer appropriate educational content in terms of unbiased information and focus of teaching and learning styles?
- Is sufficient information provided about the topic of the podcast? There should be sufficient information in the channel and podcast descriptions to enable the user to be informed about the content before listening or viewing the podcast.
- Are sufficient details provided in a well-formed podcast feed (XML/RSS file)? The basic content of the RSS feed should include the basic range of podcast channel and podcast information (with pre-requisite enclosures). The feeds do not have to incorporate the additional tags required by iTunes for example.
- Is the quality of recording, mixing and presentation of the podcast high enough? The audio, images and video content are of good quality and provide a valuable and educational experience for the likely audience.
e) Following the review we may decide to:
- accept the RSS podcast feed and list all the podcasts;
- accept the RSS podcast feed and list a selection of the podcasts;
- accept the RSS podcast feed and make some amendments to improve the quality and range of information provided in the channel title and/or description;

- re-review the RSS podcast feed and podcasts at a future date;
- reject the RSS feed as either unsuitable for educational use with children, young people and educational professionals and/or likely to cause offence.
f) All decisions will be communicated via email to the contact name at the email address provided in the submission.
g) From time to time, all the RSS podcast feeds and podcasts listed in the directory are reviewed to ensure that they continue to meet the criteria set out in (d) above. Following such reviews, RECAP Limited may decide to:
