Dashboard Widget for Mac OS X Users

We have just released our educational newsfeed widget for Mac OS users, which can be downloaded from this web page.

widgetexample This simple widget reproduces the content of our RSS education newsfeed, which provides the headlines seen on the welcome page of our website.

The widget displays the 10 most recent news items and these can be seen by using the scroll bar. You can customise the length of listed items by clicking on the information symbol at the bottom right hand corner of the screen - this will flip the widget.

To adjust the length, click on the bar to the left (shorter) or right (longer) of the indicator and it will jump to your new setting. Click the OK button to flip back the front of the widget.

Our newsfeed widget is Freeware and is provided for personal, individual, non-profit, non-commercial, academic and educational use. For other uses please contact us.

Technical information

This widget was created using Dashcode and once installed and running will retrieve information from our RSS newsfeed via your internet connection. This release is version 2.0. Please note:

"Mac OS X 10.4.3 Tiger or later is required. If you’re using Safari, click the download link. When the widget download is complete, show Dashboard, click the Plus sign to display the Widget Bar and click the widget’s icon in the Widget Bar to open it. If you’re using a browser other than Safari, click the download link. When the widget download is complete, unarchive it and place it in /Library/Widgets/ in your home folder. To show Dashboard, click the Plus sign to display the Widget Bar and click the widget’s icon in the Widget Bar to open it."
